Courage
Joshua 1:9 "This is my commander strong and courageous. Never be afraid or discouraged because I am your God, the Eternal One, and I will remain with you wherever you go."
These are powerful words. God never asked Joshua to try and be strong and courageous.... He told him. It was a direct command. The interesting thing however is the word discourage. It points to a lack of courage. The question is, if this was God's command... obviously it has to be possible to just not be a afraid or without courage! Same goes for Moses in Deuteronomy 31:6 where God gave him the same command.
Think about this. To steadfastly know be courageous and stand your ground without fear you need to be sure of what you believe and who your Source and Shield is. This goes to say that the more we spend time with the Father the better we will get to know His heart and so its a lot easier to act on a direct order like the one mentioned above. Its so simple... know that God is the one that goes before you, stands behind you, keeps watch above you, guides your path beneath you and wraps you in His protection. There is absolutely nothing to fear... just BE COURAGEOUS!
