Hebrews 13:1-2"Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."I know most of us would see the word "hospitality" and think of your gran opening the front door for you with a smile and oven mits still on. The smell of tea and pastry filling the house and before you know it she already seated you with a huge milktart slice in front of you. But what is hospitality really?
According to the dictionary it is the friend;y reception of guests whether friends or strangers. Now think about this; did Jesus ever treat any person differently than he's neighbor? Did he ever make any division between culture or social statuses?
Let's face it... when a beggar knock on our door we tend to be quite rude. Same as we are rude towards certain people because of their character or what they have done to us in the past. The love of Christ that we proclaim to have says different thou.
Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."We are obligated to love like Jesus loved because we now carry the Father's name. We are representatives of Heaven and so we are the very image of the faith we carry. Let's act in love, kindness and show hospitality to all so that the love of the One True God may be seen in and through us.
